Blame it on Yamaha PG-1

This is creative’s cut, which is closest to our original board, with um… a little bit different to official cut.

We won a big pitch to handle the campaign for the new Yamaha PG-1 in 2025, beating out some industry giants.

Our work on the previous Janus project taught us about what it takes to handle a fast-paced production. This time around, we used everything we learned to be even more prepared. The whole team worked seamlessly with the director, photographer, and production house to make everything happen. We faced a ton of challenges, but we got through all of them 🤞.

I believe this will be a memorable and proud project for all of us.

We should have a ri$e too, after all.

The key visual, crafted by our SAD Kit.

How it started

What’s really special is that the ad we crafted for the Yamaha PG-1 this year goes beyond just beautiful shots, it tells a story. The film features a guy who sets out to buy banh mi, but his simple trip turns into a two-day adventure. Upon his return, he humorously (and shamelessly) blames his delay on the PG-1 – a bike so fun it can’t help but drag him into unexpected detours.

The mood board

Colorgrading v5. Cinematic look, a little dark, warm skin tone, the depth of every scenes are still well preserved, personally, I quite like this version. It’s look great on big screen, while the current version is optimised for mobile device.

Some goody twists

In the creative’s cut, I decided to reinstate certain details, transitions, situations that didn’t exist from the official version due to various objective reasons. I also took out some scenes to lengthen some other scenes, balancing pacing of whole film, fine tune a bit more on sound design. This particular cut is intended purely for creative expression.

Product demo film

For product film, we want to bring the audience right into a bike lover’s natural habitat – a place where they love to hang out and share their hobby. Think of a workshop or a garage with a coffee shop vibe. It’s chill, it’s cozy, and it has a lot of character.

Launching event in Hanoi Contemporary Museum, 14 Sept 2025.

Bonus

Below is a original song I’ve written and composed for the launching event of PG-1 happened in 14 Sept at Hanoi Contemporary Museum. A fan made song in two version, one in reggae, Bob Marley vibe, another one in pop, indie, chill vibe which I found pretty match with the bike and the young minded rider itself. Check out this fan-made AI music video.

We’ve been through a lot of ups and downs together til the end. After 8 days of shooting from Da Lat to Phan Thiet and back to Sai Gon, a few weeks of post-production, and countless meetings, we finally reached the wrap. I’ll put the behind-the-scenes photos here as a visual note.
