Battle in the storm

This was a personal challenge to move away from short “vignettes” and actually build a continuous fight scene. I wanted to see if I could keep the action flowing for more than a 30-45 second clip.

I’ve been a huge Gundam fan since I was a kid. I used to spend hours building model kits and imagining epic battles in my head. Back then, those stories only existed in there. The ‘Battle in the storm’ is about a human scout team gets stuck in a massive sandstorm on a desert planet (very Dune style). While they hide in an abandoned outpost, they ambushed by a fierce mech.

With AI, I can finally “ship” those dreams from my head to the screen. I added the music, the SFXs, transitions, new plots, new moves and all the explosions myself. I stayed up until 4 AM just to finish this, and honestly, the feeling was amazing. Ah, yes, I am (accidentally) being a stop motion Director in some short film, so I think the combination of gundam figures (HG grade is my favorite) and stop motion animation style is perfect fit.

I used this project to test my AI Hybrid Production process. It’s the same workflow I recently used for an FMCG client, and The blubit project, but applied to a Sci-Fi world. All the gundam models in the clip are hand-painted back in 2014 and part of my collection at Chili Pepper Garage.
