Luce-a-No

I like Jony Ive. I like his brilliant works for Apple. I like Ferrari even more, not as a fan yet, but I admire the aesthetic and the history of one of the greatest Italian brand. From 80s iconic Ferrari Testarossa, F40 to breath-taking Ferrari Enzo 6.0 litter V12 engine, or the curvy-sexy Ferrari Dino 206 S. But, Ferrari Luce is too…different, may be too far away from what Ferrari has been built on, a different breed and design language – the negative way.

I feel it way closer to a Range Rover or some design which an American or Chinese automaker will bet on for their first car. NOT Ferrari.

Where is the stance? Why’s that plain and ugly, sluggish wheel disc? Minimalism is fine, but why is that boring, lumpish block? More like brutalism for me. Ferrari should be elegant and aggressive at the same time.

As a creative, a designer, I can’t imagine how much pressure Jony Ive and Love From crew faced while working on this project. They weren’t just tasked with creating a remarkable EV car, but also with the extraordinary challenge of designing a great Ferrari EV car – the burden of the name of a d*mn-great-automaker that humanity ever created.

I made a short reaction video of Don Vito Corleone seeing the Ferrari Luce for the first time. They belong to different universes and timelines, but I imagined “what if” scenarios.

I created my own plot and let it develop through my AI pipeline. Although I didn’t stick to my original flow completely, I’m happy with the result as it still reflects my original thought.
May be this is the reaction of many car enthusiasts right now.
